The Origin of Sown to Bloom
As children I believe that we are all inherently creative, cheeky, and brave.
However, as adults, we sometimes suppress our creativity to save it for another day. What's remarkable about creativity is that it never truly fades. Even during the seasons that I turned away from my artistic passions, I held onto hope that I would one day rediscover my creative side. There was a persistent longing to engage in hands-on creativity, knowing its potential for healing.
It wasn't until I found myself seated in the second row at Kody's grandmother's celebration of life that I felt a spark within me. As I listened to the stories of her remarkable walk-through life, my attention would repeatedly shift to the two small cards in my hand. Her family featured prints of her pressed flower artwork, crafted from flowers that she cultivated and preserved on from their family farm.
That day a fire was ignited within me, a creative spark that I could no longer ignore.
"Sown to Bloom" sprouted from my desire to honor her legacy by incorporating her initials into the name. I want to acknowledge her role in passing down this creative spark to me. Thank you Sienie Bykerk.
"Sown to Bloom" also reflects my strong belief that we are all destined to bloom in our own unique way. If I wanted to wait for the perfect moment to chase this dream, I may have waited for a lifetime.
So instead, I wholeheartedly jumped in with both feet.
I'll never forget the evening that I shared my desire to begin flower pressing with Kod. I was filled with nerves and self-doubt...
"Would I actually follow through? Could I truly make this endeavor work? Would he support my seemingly wild idea of scattering wildflowers across our hobby farm with hopes to grow and create art that feeds my soul?"
Without hesitation. Unconditionally. Every single day.
And so it is.
We are all Sown to Bloom.
